Treasures on Etsy

An odd and wonderful web site Etsy .... it is a place to hunt online like you are at a craft fair, garage sale, artist's open house, boutique sale... a plethora of hand made goodies. Most of it is just a bit of this and a bit of that but every once in a while there is one charming or unusual seller.

Harry Stooshinoff has one such space at Etsy. He calls his "store" Paintbox and it's chock full of small studies of the Canadian landscape. There is such tenderness in these small and wonderful studies. They are quiet, gentle and obviously, a loving portrayal of someone's home and surroundings.

I will admit that the price is just too good to pass up. I have several in my own collection and I don't think they will be alone for long (I'm particularly fond of the snow paintings). There are many more to be snapped up. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed if you dive in and start your own collection.

Flow and Tidal Change

The curator of the exibition FLOW-fine lines on water, informed me today that my board will be available for the Tidal Change show. It is a 9'2" long board with one of my paintings embedded in the glass of the board. It's awesome!

Each board from the original show was editioned in a set of 3. Since the first two boards of my edition are now long gone, I ordered the last board hoping it would be ready for the spring exhibition of paintings. I, of course, ordered an artist proof to be made for myself, at my husband's insisting, to be installed in my studio for our own personal enjoyment.

You can learn more about the entire Flow exhibition here AND make sure to visit the board at the exhibition opening a week from tomorrow in Santa Barbara.

Furry Love

My walking buddies and studio help mates ... introducing Athena (left) and Skye (the puppy-ish beasty). They are my co-conspirators and ever present studio cohorts.

Life is good.

Sliding into home

The catalogs are done being printed, labels are being applied, postage paid and off to be mailed this week. The paintings are nearly finished, still some fussy details that need attention before signatures and paperwork can be completed. There are just two weeks before delivery and all is well.

The reception for the solo show Tidal Change, held at the Sullivan Goss contemporary gallery at 7 East Anapamu in Santa Barbara, will be on Saturday March, 31st, 2007 from 5-7pm.

Hope to see everyone there.

Post No. 5 Bookie

Mail call.....

I received my first self published effort from my Mac iPhoto program. This little gem is a mere 3.5x2.5" wonder. The images are paintings done on recycled wood postcards found at the local recycle, reuse store... Art from Scrap. Amazing.

The cover is the preview to what you'll find inside, 16 mini treasures. This wee collection will be a feature at the upcoming Tidal Change show at Sullivan Goss. The books I'm considering selling, but for now, I'm just happy admiring them.

Five and a Half

Judy Lee at fiveandahalf was so wonderful in publishing one of my images on her blog recently. Thank you Judy!

She makes amazing hand built sketchbooks from what she calls recollected materials and reuses them to make a wonderful, functional product with her beautiful drawings as covers. See them here fiveandahalf
