Home Again

Paintings home from abroad are welcomed with open arms and eyes. They were finished and shipped off before there was time to absorb them. It's nice to look and be reminded, feel, the path, the journey.

Worktable Wednesday - computer day

Camping and our local mountains are foremost in my mind today as I sit preparing my next collection of stamps for production. I am creating a grouping of creatures from our local forest along with the human experiences of camping in our wilderness.

Working on the computer all day... not my favorite thing to be doing. Spending time dreaming about my next adventure in the pines.... makes it more pleasurable.

The prototypes will be in the shop by the end of the month and the manufactured versions by the end of July {fingers crossed!} You will know when I know. Happy trails.

Oh happy day!

What a grand surprise and start to June. LOOK what showed up on my doorstep today from the ever talented Teresa Zepeda! Such a lucky girl am I...

The amazing Teresa is a printmaker. I have gushed about her before, her impeccably outrageous technique in silkscreen. This one steals my own heart as the dog looks so much like my Skye...but I can't stop staring at it because, well, it's Teresa's, super-dilly-icous, edible art. Thank you thank you thank you.

Worktable Wednesdays: woodcut

With the recent closing of my exhibition Islands Valleys Home, I am back in the studio wondering what is next. As a diversion I continue to work on my rubber stamp company, Two Dog Stampede. It's starting to border on obsession, okay, well, maybe it's already passed that!  Looking at the wee stampages, I notice that they are getting better {from quantity comes quality, no?}. Some I envision as larger images.

Today, I embarked on seeing if that hypothesis can be proved. I plotted out one of the feline images, two Abyssinian cats curled together in blissful sleep. We'll see if my carving skills are as refined on something that is bigger than two inches square.

Some day, in my not so far off future, the easel and getting back to that lovely fixation with pushing paint around. Until then, the scrape of tools on wood sounds good to me.

From us to you.

Have yourself a merry happy new year. Thank you for your love, support, kindness and generosity throughout the year{s}. I wouldn't be where I am, or who I am, without you and you all know who I'm talking about.

Blessings and light in 2012.

Thank you Westmont Auction!

Recently the new Museum at the Westmont College campus held a great fundraising event called 5X5. It was a super idea which included over 400 artists producing images five by five inches. And let me say, five by five of superb, delicious, irresistible pieces.

It was a chance to donate, participate, advocate, and celebrate a new building, a new art center AND best of all! take home a one of kind something from your choice of over 500 small images. A spectacular idea to auction off really wonderful works to support a new venue for celebrating art in our community.

Me? I took home four lovelies for my very own.
