Thursday Easel

Today I'm working in the Utah Desert, visiting Hite Country in my studio while listening to audible books. It sure feels like the desert with this early heat.

Worktable Wednesday - at the easel

...well, trying to be. Plenty of distractions to go around this fall and not enough time in the studio. Still.... I'm working this week and starting new paintings for upcoming deadlines. These are just the first pass, getting the drawings right before really diving in.

Solo show on the horizon

The NEW TERRAIN show cards are here and will be winging their way in the mail during the next week. If you are wanting something good in your post box send me word and I'll be happy to make sure you get one. Or you can stop by FRAME at 901 De La Vina and collect one, say hello to Elaine. She can give you the scoop on the show as she has had a sneak preview!

Hope to see you all at the gallery First Thursday September 5th from 5-8pm.

Worktable Wednesday

It's astonishing that anything is being completed in my studio at present ... husband Bill has other ideas about what I should be doing with my time... like helping put the new roof on. YES I am a roofer by day and painter/printer by night. IF, that is, I can still lift my arms to hold a brush or even stand on my wobbly legs after a day on the pitched roof.

Still... there are shows coming, the fall is full and deadlines approach so there is no help for it but to suck it up and keep working despite the weary joints and muscles.

Shows on the horizon:

15 year anniversary show at FRAME with the lovely and fabulous Elaine Esbeck. Opening October, 11, 2012.  {that's 10/11/12 people} Announcements forthcoming.

Annual 100 GRAND show at Sullivan Goss opening First Thursday in December.

New work will be arriving at Sundance in the coming months and the possibility of something for the annual Small Images show at the local City College for October.

There is certainly plenty to be getting on with and many stamps yet to be made for the holiday crush that is also creeping up. I know, now I've gone and said it, Christmas is coming. Ho ho ho.

Don't forget to stop in and see all the new shows at Sullivan Goss. Elemental: Water, the Fall Salon, Ken Bortolazzo Equipose and Martha Erlebacher.

Final Week: Islands Valleys Home

Sunday, February 26th is the last day to see the exhibition at Sullivan Goss. My babies will be coming home to the fold on Monday while they await their next destination. Still! There are FIVE more days to see them singing on the walls at Sullivan Goss. The gallery is open 930am-530pm every day at 11 East Anapamu. Have lunch at the Arts and Letters Cafe and visit the paintings one last time.

Good start to the new year

Winter Shoreline Quad  15x72" oil on birch ©2012

The first painting finished in 2012 is a commission headed back East. It's a modification of a painting from 2009 titled Winter Surf. It will now get boxed tenderly and await it's journey to New York.

on and on

Great news! for those who have yet to see the exhibit at Sullivan Goss. The February schedule had an opening which needed filling. Through the generosity of the gallery Islands Valleys Home will remain on the wall one more month.

The paintings have been rehung and the exhibition reconfigured, everything looks brand new and a fresh perspective on the remaining works. You can see the show through February 26th.

Much thanks and gratitude to Sullivan Goss.

Show Update

It's hard to believe another month is almost gone and only one month left of 2011.

Islands Valleys Home has been on the walls at Sullivan Goss for 24 days, just a few short weeks. The opening was wonderfully packed, full of friends and family, clients and artists. I feel blessed by the turn out and ever grateful for all the support.

The show will be up through the holidays and on until the end of January. There is plenty of time to enjoy the island images, the local foothill grasses and the ever changing skyscapes.

Don't forget! this Thursday, December 1st is the second of three receptions for the exhibit. I will be there with my babies and a new piece that will hang with the 100 GRAND exhibit in the front room.

Here are a few shots from the gallery to entice you to come see the paintings in person.
